Our Purpose
The church exists for the purposes of exaltation, edification, and evangelization.
Exaltation
The church exists for Christ, as we return God's love. (See Romans 15:5 9, Ephesians 1:5,6,22,23 and Philippians. 2:8 10.)
The church's highest calling is to exalt and glorify God. This exaltation begins with the recognition that all that we have, all that we see, and all that we are belongs to Him. He is not just our Savior, but our Lord, demanding our complete surrender and deepest intent to do what is right and follow in His steps. We exist to bring honor to His name!
Edification
The church exists for itself, as we receive God's love. (See Ephesians 4:11 15 and I Corinthians 11 14.)
The Bible repeatedly compares the church to a body. As a body has many parts, performing different roles, so the church will have many people using different gifts. A key purpose of the church is to see people's lives changed so as to grow in our commitment to follow Christ and grow in our commitment to one another in the body of Christ. The church is made up of many individuals bonded in Christ and working together to teach, learn, train, disciple, evangelize and care for others in the love of Christ.
Evangelization
The church exists for others, as we share God's love. (See Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46 48 and Acts 1:8.)
Christ's last command is our first concern! His last command is "Go and make disciples...". One of our highest priorities is to communicate, by the most effective means possible, the love and forgiveness of Christ. Though each believer is an individual, with individual gifts, talents, and vocations, each is to be a witness for Christ as part of his everyday lifestyle. God's forgiveness through Christ is extended to all without prejudice, and is communicated by the genuine concern, love, and care of the believer for those around us.
