Scott Slocum, Lead Pastor, ext. 33 In 1987, Scott left the Midwest, where he pastored churches in Michigan, Ohio and Minnesota, and came to Essex Alliance to serve as our lead pastor. Scott earned a Bachelor's degree in Bible and Theology from Crown College in Minneapolis and serves on the Christian and Missionary Alliance National Board of Directors. He loves warm weather and the golfing and boating it brings. He and his wife, Diane, have three children. Gregg Walsh, Executive Pastor, ext. 33 Our executive pastor since 2001, Gregg previously served as an assistant pastor, president of Christian Ministries Inc., station manager for Family Broadcasting and associate camp director at Camp Pinnacle. Gregg received his education from Nyack College and the Church Leadership Academy in Colorado Springs. Gregg enjoys basketball, skiing, boating, golfing and spending time with his Labs, Scout and Captain.. He and his wife, Audrey, have four children and two grandchildren. |
Ron Myers, Worship and Arts Pastor, ext. 14 Ron's worship and arts ministry began with a church planting in Dallas in 1983. Later, he moved to San Diego, and in 2000, to Essex Junction. Ron holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Southern Nazarene University. He loves cooking, listening to new music, shopping or eating out with his wife and watching old movies. He and his wife, Nancy, have three children. |
Joe Moore, Pastor of Care, ext. 30 Before joining Essex Alliance in 1990, Joe served churches in Wilmington, Delaware, as well as Youth For Christ ministry. He holds a BA in Biblical Studies from Eastern Mennonite College and a Master's of Divinity from Seminary of the East. After 14 years of youth ministry at Essex Alliance, Joe is now Pastor of Care Ministries. He loves sailing, eating out, editing videos, playing computer games and sitting by the fire with his wife, Sandy, and their two children. |
Bob Magie, Care Ministries, ext. 30 After working as a national park ranger, serving on Young Life ministry staff, earning a Master's of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and serving 18 years as a pastor, Bob retired... or so he thought. He joined our staff in 2001 and serves in Care Ministries, providing home and hospital visitation. Bob enjoys working outdoors, gardening, hiking and cross-country skiing. He and his wife, Lynn, have three children and four grandkids. |
Larry Wakefield, Adult Ministries Pastor, ext. 29 Larry loves people and the opportunity to help them grow in Christ. He is energized by teaching and answering questions about God and the Bible. Larry joined our staff in 1990 after serving 10 years with Campus Crusade for Christ. He holds a BA in History from Penn State and a Master's in Theological Studies from the International School of Theology. Larry enjoys fishing, basketball, puzzles and reading. He and his wife, Candy, have two children. |
Joshua Becker, Student Ministries Pastor, ext. 39 Our newest team member, Joshua previously served as student ministries pastor for Menomonie Alliance Church in Wisconsin. He has also been a speaker at LIFE, Campus Crusade and other youth events. After earning a B.S. from the University of Nebraska and a Master's from Bethel Seminary in Minnesota, Joshua is well-equipped both in education and in cold-tolerance for ministry in Vermont. He enjoys playing sports, cheering for Minnesota sports teams, gardening and reading. Joshua and his wife, Kim, have two children. |
Mike James, Pastor of Children and Young Famlies, ext. 36 While Mike has been a familiar face at Essex Alliance since 1994, his pastoral role is a new one for him. During Mike's 13-year career in semiconductor engineering, God began preparing him for full-time ministry. Mike's passion is working with children and young families to help them develop spiritually. He enjoys woodworking, hiking, sports, fly tying and home improvement. He and his wife, Stephanie, have four children. |
Chris Wilkens, Director of Counseling, 288-1001 Chris is a native Vermonter who grew up in the Burlington area. She holds a B.A., with concentrations in Education and Psychology, in addition to a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling from Johnson State College. Prior to coming on staff at EAC she worked with students and families for Lamoille North Supervisory Union as a Counselor and has 12 years experience working with children in alternative education. For the last 18 years she and her husband, Jim, have lived in Johnson raising their family and a great assortment of pets. Chris and Jim have been married 30 years and are the parents of 3 adult children. Chris loves to garden and cook. She and Jim enjoy walking country roads, hiking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. |
